Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Certivu's website, API, dashboard, and SDK (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use Certivu. If you are using Certivu on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Account Registration

You must provide accurate information when registering. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and passwords. You must notify us immediately at support@certivu.ai if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Certivu to:

  • Sign content you do not own or have rights to sign
  • Create fraudulent provenance records
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API beyond your plan's rate limits
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Infringe intellectual property rights of third parties

4. Cryptographic Provenance — What Certivu Does and Does Not Claim

Certivu verifies declared, signed provenance for content that has been registered with Certivu. We do not claim to detect all AI-generated content, and the absence of a Certivu provenance record does not imply human origin. Watermarks are a resilience mechanism, not cryptographic proof — the ML-DSA signature is the authoritative trust signal.

5. Billing and Payments

Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. Overage charges for signing beyond your plan's quota are billed at the end of each billing period. Prices are listed at certivu.ai/#pricing.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time from the dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law.

6. Free Tier

The Free tier is limited to 500 signing operations per month. Signing is blocked once the limit is reached. Verification is always free and unlimited for all tiers.

7. API Keys and Security

Your ML-DSA private keys are generated and shown to you once in the dashboard. Certivu does not store private keys. You are solely responsible for securing them. If a private key is compromised, you must revoke the generator immediately from the dashboard.

8. Intellectual Property

Certivu retains all intellectual property rights in the Service. You retain ownership of any content you sign. By submitting a provenance record, you grant Certivu a limited, non-exclusive license to store and serve the record metadata (hash, signature, generator ID, organization name, timestamp) for the purpose of operating the verification service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Certivu does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities. Use of the Service is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Certivu shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amounts paid by you to Certivu in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Certivu and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or abuse of the Service. You may delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Upon termination, your API keys are revoked immediately. Provenance records already registered remain in the ledger, as they are relied upon by third-party verifiers.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes via email or dashboard notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
